2011 recap...very long!

Whoah finally getting around to blogging...I am seriously so bad at it. But I guess better late than never. So I am going to follow the trend and re-cap the last year because it was definitely a crazy one! It might be long, so a just a warning haha this will mostly be like a journal entry for me to look back on.

January 2011 was not as peachy keen as we had hoped. I was recovering slower than anticipated from a surgery that I had in December. They placed a stint in my foot as well as loosening muscles in my calf. It was extremely painful and I was really not prepared for the recovery process. I couldn't walk and was in constant pain ever since the surgery which took place on December 27. I couldn't take the pain medication because it made me throw up literally every 5 minutes, so I pretty much just had to stick it out. I didn't get much time to rest because I had to be back in Dental Hygiene school and wasn't allowed to miss any days. Let me tell you, hobbling around and trying to carry all my stuff to clinic was very taxing, not to mention I still was in excruciating pain. I seriously could not have done it without Candi Kidd, she helped me everyday set up my clinic and was always so caring! Also this month Scott was laid off on his job that he had been working at for quite sometime, which forced me to take on more hours working at the community clinic at night. Not to mention other personal matters that went on that month. I was worried about this because I had school all day and would work til about 10:00 pm then have to go home and study for the boards that I would be taking in just a few months. Extremely stressful....

February really just came and went. It was my birthday but honestly I pretty much forgot about it because I had ZERO time and was so focused on boards. This month I was lucky enough to find a boards patient early and he was perfect. He came in a few times to let me check him to make sure he qualified and he was always so reliable...

March I spent studying for boards again...that was pretty much my life and I really didn't do much. I started doing online study sessions that were rather expensive to purchase but were really a great resource. Britney Littledike from my class also wanted to use the

same study sessions under my username and paid me about $50 to do so. She will have no idea how much that $50 helped us that month...

April first I took my first big boards exam. I honestly just realized this was in the Lords hands. I had studied so hard and really did all that I could do in order to pass the test. The morning of the test I felt so calm and so peaceful. Even during the test (when I felt like I didnt know any answers to ANY questions) I still had a warm feeling the entire time. I knew that was the Lord telling me it was going to be ok. This month Scott also got deployed to Alaska with his medical Army unit. He left the day after I graduated from dental hygiene school. My family was so awesome to take my sister and I on a much needed vacation to Florida! We went to the Harry Potter thing at Universal and just spent time together relaxing. I also experienced the worst sunburn of my life! I got blisters on every part of my body! I guess thats what being inside all day and a Utah winter will do to you. Seriously, it was like my skin had never seen the sun!

May my husband and I were reunited after his deployment to Alaska. But only for a week because we had decided to take a summer sales job with Pinnacle (January he had lost his job and we had NO money!). We were offered some great money and Scott had been selling with them in the past. I felt a little uneasy with this decision because I knew we would be separated. I had been offered a summer job with Kerr Endodontics in AZ that paid really well, while I waited for my hygiene license. But we decided we really had no other option if we wanted to get back on our feet financially. I also took my clinical boards exam which was probably the most stressful day of my life. My once reliable patient showed up 20 minutes late! So I had like 10 minutes to check him in (usually you have up to 30-45mins to do this). Luckily they accepted my submission and I felt calm during the whole exam while I was cleaning...

June came and I headed to AZ while hubby headed to Kansas to begin selling. I started my new job and also found out that I had passed both my clinical and written tests! I was thrilled and literally know that it was divine intervention that allowed me to pass. I was so happy! I started the process of getting my AZ hygiene license since I would be living there for the summer. I had to take another test for the AZ license and was a little lazy at getting around to it. However I was so happy to be working and bringing an income into our family, even if it was just assisting at the time. It was such a great job and I truly love everybody in the office. This was such a blessing because things with Scott were not working out so well. Pinnacle was extremely unorganized with their sales team and it took almost two weeks for Scott to get a license (this is valuable time in summer sales), not to mention right when he would start working they would pick up and leave to another place where they had to start all over again. All the while we are separated which makes things worse and very difficult...

July we went to Lake Powell with my family which is always a good time and much needed getaway. Also I went to visit Scott in Texas (yes, they were now in Texas

after moving almost 5 times and Scott having to drive over 3,000 miles...I am not even over-exaggerating...it was a joke!) It was fun to have a little getaway, but at this point Scott and I were starting to think that this summer sales thing really was not working out. There was a lot of money that was mysteriously "missing" that they owed us not to mention Scott was living out of hotels and being moved around like a circus! However from much persuading and many promises he decided to stick it out. He never quits anything and gives it all he has got. I returned back to AZ to continue working...

August I decided to start looking for a job in Utah since I would be heading back there after the summer. I also got my Utah hygiene license. I started looking on craigslist and talking to a few people I knew who were already working down there for leads. Also my sweet office manager from Kerr endodontics in AZ flew to Orem and handed out my resumes to a bunch of doctors she knew! What an amazing lady she is! Within a few days of sending out about 10 resumes I got a few emails back and learned that one office was very interested and that they wanted me to come interview in a few days! I was so excited but had to pack up earlier than expected and make the 12 hour drive back to Utah to go to this interview, I was not about to let an opportunity pass me, especially since the job market for hygienists in Utah is "slim pickens." I drove 8 hrs to Cedar City, slept there, then finished the rest of the 3 hr drive to Orem and made it just in time to go to my interview. Keep in mind I was homeless at this time. There were tenants in our apartment who had rented it out for the summer. We had told them that we weren't going to be back until the beginning of September but because I had this job lead, I came back early with no place to live. So I got ready for my interview in my car and showered at the gym after driving 12 hrs the past 2 days...oh so much fun! Also Scott called from California (yes...he had moved yet again to California for sales) saying he was DONE and leaving about 2weeks early because we were honestly losing more money moving, then we were actually making selling. Scott and I were reunited after an entire summer apart just in time for our first anniversary August 21. It was amazing to see him again.

September I got offered the job I had come back early for! I was absolutely elated. It was truly a blessing because our summer we had not made much money and really needed this job. I was absolutely thrilled to start! I learned about the holistic approach to dentistry and attended a conference in Las Vegas with my new office. I learned so much, a few things I am still a little skecthy about haha but it was very informative. I had a great time getting to know everyone in the office. Scott also started his semester at school to continue his education.

In October we received news that the company Scott "worked" for in the summer was now coming after us because we "didnt keep up our end of the bargain" and now wanted us to pay them thousands of dollars (that we never made, nor had by the way). We were threatened continually and almost had to get a lawyer until I went over there and explained to them that we had agreed to sell in Kansas...not Texas or the other 238965872 places they made them move...this pretty much put that to rest...but was very stressful at the moment. Work was going great, but I was not getting as many hours as I had originally thought I was going to. It was inconsistent and the office was in a transition stage so things were moving a little slower than I thought. I love the office but started to think that I might need a second job to make a little more income since Scott was solely focusing on school.

November was a great month because I got to go to a family reunion/ Thanksgiving in AZ. It was so great to see every SINGLE person in my family and extended family all together. Also I was offered another job at Cascade Family Dental, an office I had temped at previously. It was honestly an answer to prayers. I love working there and all of the new things I am learning. I am so grateful for these opportunities I have been given. We have truly been blessed...

December wasnt as crazy as I thought and we just spent it in Tooele with Scotts sisters family. It was great to watch the magic of Christmas through her cute kids eyes. I was also adjusting to working about 40 hours a week versus the 20 hours I was working before! But I am so grateful despite the back and wrist pain!

2011 was a crazy year but ended so great! Sorry this was long but like I said I wanted to do a little recap for personal history:) Thanks for reading!!

Girls Night Out!

Most of my girlfriends are all still living in AZ, starting families and having busy lives! So sometimes I get lonely in Utah and feel like I really don't have many friends for girl time:( So I was so excited when Jessica put a little dinner together for my dental hygiene class. I haven's seen most of them since we graduated. It was so great to get away and just have girl talk. I loved hearing about everyone's new jobs, babies, and lives since graduation. I hope we can all get together more often:)

We decided to take full advantage of the amazing weather we have been having here (sorry zonies, but we will be wishing we are there come winter). We decided to hike Stewart Falls up at Sundance. It said online it was an easy 3.5 mile (up and back hike). Well it ended up taking FOREVER to hike, to say the least we were ill prepared. But the waterfall at the end was sooo worth it! Probably not the best idea to workout at the gym for an hour and half and then go hiking for another three! We were super tired afterwards!

You cant really tell but Scotty was soaking wet from the frigid water! He just had to go into the waterfall as soon as he saw it

I decided to stay behind...lol anyone that knows me will tell you one thing I absolutely HATE is cold water. I will avoid it at all costs!!

We want to go on more hikes while the weather is nice!! Anyone wanna join?!?

OMBRE HAIR!!

For those of us who worry about roots (uuhh hem ME!!) This is a perfect technique to use for your color! I have to say that I have had my hair like this since April and I am in LOVE!! I just got a refresher on my color today and it is amazing! For those of you counting, I went 5 months without getting my hair colored and I could of went til the end of the year and it would have still looked great! I just get bored and have to do something:)

Good news! I got a job! It was the first working interview I ever did and I actually got it! I am the only hygienist at Synergy Dental in Lindon. My first day is on Tuesday!

The office is not your "run of the mill" dental office. They use a lot of natural oral products and really try to make your dental experience as pleasant as possible (candles, incense, calming music...its almost like a spa!!). They have many alternatives and safe ways to care for your mouth without using a lot of "un-natural" products and chemicals.

At the beginning of September I get to go with the office to Las Vegas to go to the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology conference to learn about more safe and natural ways to treat our patients. I seriously cant wait!!

I am so blessed to have this job and it will help Scott to be able to just focus on school and graduate faster!

No...I am not talking about a birthday around here.. Its our ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY today!! I really cant believe it has been a year when I was able to be sealed to my best friend forever. I have learned so much and become such a better person over this past year. I love Scott so much! I am truly lucky to have him as my best friend forever.

Some say your first year is your easiest or your hardest. For us it, it definitely has tested us. It has been a blessing for us to be both be away from our families our first year of marriage. When times got tough all we had were each other and that has helped us grow immensely!

To celebrate Scott planned awesome surprises for me like he always does:) He sent me to a spa day yesterday where I got a pedi, facial and massage! And then we went to a beautiful restaurant in the Riverwoods called La Jolla Groves! It was delicious:) And then of course ice cream! When I woke up this morning (our REAL anniversary day) there was a little treasure hunt around the house for me and at the end was a yummy smelling Volcano Candle from Anthro!! I have been wanting one forever, not to mention the people that rented out apt for the summer made it smell weird hahaha! He is soooo thoughtful:) I got him a bunch of supplements that he has been wanting for his new work out plan!! He has been really training hard for a body competition and he is looking GREAT!!

Look forward to another year with my man:)

Spotted these while shopping with my mom in Chandler. I am loving them...but not the pricetag! $100 bucks for these bad boys! Hopefully they go on sale sometime soon.

I made it safely back to Utah as it greeted me with tons of road construction and about a dozen mini vans with those weird family stickers on the back. I guess not much has changed since I left. I am excited to be back with my husband...FINALLY! The longest five months of my life! I am still looking for a hygiene job but have a working interview this Tuesday.. keeping my fingers crossed. Scott is getting ready to start up school again and looking for internships. If anyone knows someone in hospital administration...HOLLA!

I am going to try and be better about updating since I took a very long break:)

Ok ok dont be hater but yes I took a small hiatus from the blogging world. So much has happened since I last updated and honestly just did not have the time or energy to blog! I had surgery in December on foot and calf:( It was a painful and longer recovery than I expected. Unfortunately I was trying to recover while I was struggling to finish my last semester of Dental Hygiene school. I had so many HUGE tests to take and I could barely walk. So to say the least from January to April is a blur in my mind. I don't know how I made it through and actually passed my tests! What a crazy time!
I finally graduated after a long year and half STRAIGHT of school. I literally thought I was not going to get here! But I am proud to say I MADE IT! I am now a dental hygienist and have taken a long break from scraping teeth this summer. I am ready to get back to it in the fall!!

The day after graduation Scott and I said our goodbyes for the summer and he headed to Alaska for a deployment. He was able to go down with a bunch of hospital administrators, doctors, nurses, dentists, hygienists etc... from the army to set up medical clinics in some of the most remote parts of Alaska! What a great experience for him and he learned so much:)

While Scotty was in Alaska my family and I got to go to the Harry Potter land in Florida! I am not a huge Harry Potter fanatic ( I know...I know..) but I have to say it was pretty awesome. They did a great job and you really feel like your in the movie!

Florida was so so so hot! My poor white Utah skin got the worst sunburn I have ever had...one of the many reasons I'm not the most fond of living in Utah...pasty skin!!

Scott and I were able to reunite for a few days to go on our annual Lake Powell trip. We have been going with the Heningers for about 12 years! It is always so much fun. This year the water was FREEZING! But we still loved it and loved seeing each other for a short time!

Scotty and I decided to take a little get away to Idaho.

We get sick of living in our little ten mile radius in Orem of work, school, home and all over again! So it was time to get out of town...not to mention I have NEVER been to Idaho before, so I just had to see what I was missing! Oh and plus our best friends Brooke and David live there :)

Well, Well...I cant believe my semester is almost over! Only one more to go...PHEW!! Hopefully I make it out alive. Just a note to anyone who is looking into dental hygiene...be prepared to sign all aspects of your life away to dental hygiene, you pretty much live, eat, drink, sleep, and breathe hygiene!! I'm pretty sure my husband feels the same way sometimes too...poor hubby:(

And I'm finally blogging about it!!!

August 21st ( i know, i know a month late) was the best day of my life. It was an absolutely beautiful day and I can not even describe the joy I felt being sealed to my Scotty.

We were married in the morning in the Mesa, AZ temple and despite the blazing hot weather out side we were able to get some good snap shots!

Since it was so extremely hot outside I opted for the indoor reception, thank you very much! Since I was planning the whole wedding pretty much long distance I had to trust my mom with most of the decorating! Which she picked out and helped me with...amazing :) Everything was so beautiful and so fun!

My wedding day went so smooth and everything fell perfectly into place. Everyone always talks about how stressful it was and that they don't remember anything...well I remember everything and I was having the time of my life haha well since everything was going so perfectly something had to happen and it did. Right before the reception started my beautiful cake fell!! Hahaha but to be honest I really didn't care and Scott and I just started eating it! It was great!

I saw so many great friends at my reception and had so much fun!

Well maybe not so much. This weekend I met up with a bunch of girls (and husbands) from my school and had a BBQ and went to the SLC Bee's game. Unfortunately the Bee's did not play quality ball and lost against the Colorado Sky Sox (yes this is a real team....lol). But the fireworks at the end made it all worth it :)

PS. it was the same day I went to the Bijou market so YES i am wearing the same shirt cause its the same day...i mean come on do you really think I would wear the same outfit twice in a week...pshhh never...

PSS. i acutally wear the same outfit almost everyday...gotta love my scrubs...scott calls me his little blueberry haha

I loved running into these cute girls at the Bijou Market in Orem. I have to say living in Utah has been quite a pleasant surprise...with all these crafty mormon moms around they produce and sell some pretty cute stuff. I'm sure I'll be a Bijou regular and go every year!

A lot of vendors from ETSY were there as well as some independent vendors that were uber talented! Man I wish I could be as crafty as them...hmmmmm maybe I will...try at least!

I had my first day at work and I would say....it was a success...but boy am I missing that guy right up there...he is the best :)

When I should be studying...

So I have lived in Provo for a little over a year and have accomplished a lot of things while living here. However one thing I had not been able to accomplish was finding a job... yes, a job.

I looked high and low and applied to places I would NEVER dream of working...countless hours on KSL.com and craigslist.com...handing out resume's and talking to people...and still, nothin. I started thinking...

"man, my resume is not that bad and I have some great references...what is the deal?" I would get discouraged a lot but never stopped looking.

With the summer semester being a little lighter and Scott moving to AZ I had a little more time on my hands...ok a lot more time on my hands...so much so that I really thought I was going to go go crazy.

I spent hours cleaning, organizing, studying, planting flowers, going on nature walks, long boarding...etc... to pass the time.

Now all of this sounds exciting but remember the three people I am doing all this with...Me, Myself and I...and so that gets a little boring (see post below for more details). Not to mention with me getting married there is some added pressure to "bring home the bacon".

So I prayed and fasted...and prayed some more and fasted some more...and I FINALLY GOT A JOB!! Yes, a real life job....and its something I love...DENTAL ASSISTING! It truly was a miracle because I had always wanted to go back to assisting but no one is ever open on Fridays, which with school, was the only day I could work, so I kinda gave up on it. One day I came across an add asking for a dental assistant for Fridays only! CRAZY!! I applied, interviewed and got the job! I am starting in two days and I cant wait! Not to mention they are looking to hire a hygienist in a year and... HELLO thats when I graduate from hygiene school:)

The Lord really does answer prayers...YIIIPPPEEEE!!!!!!!!

What do I do??

So life has been....well (sigh)....boring. Having a long distance engagement is NOT something I recommend! However I am so proud of Scotty for working so hard for us:) I am one lucky gal.

So that brings me to the next topic... what do I do? Well since most everyone I know here is gone for the summer I have been hanging out with some pretty cool people. Names: me. myself. and I. Pretty cool.

Today we all went to Ikea to look for a new couch for the condo. Also they took me out to a movie, "Letters to Juliet..." which was just as corny as every other chick flick (and I kept trying to look at the guy in the movie because one of my professors says he walks weird...I couldn't see it...sorry Prof. Molen). The movie really made me want to move to Italy, so I asked Scott and he agreed...yup were moving to Italy!! Not really...but hey we can dream:)

I have to say it has been quite sometime since I have taken myself out to a movie. I think the last time was when I had just moved to Hawaii and didn't know a single soul on the entire island, so what do I do? Hopped on the bus into town and went to a movie. It made me feel like I had a lot of friends for some reason because you sit in a room full of people and all watch a movie together. I liked it and I have to say I like it again today.

Soooo all this hanging out with me, myself and I is awfully exciting however I am ready to see Scott! Next weekend I FINALLY go back to AZ to see him and take our engagement pictures. It finally seems like its really happening because I pretty much planned my entire wedding in a week and now I am just patiently waiting for the days to get closer and closer! I cant wait :)

One day Scott called me on the phone and said...

Scott:"Linds...I'm sorry but your ring was sold..we are going to have to find a whole new diamond and pick out a new ring..."

Me: ....sigh....

Then Scott told me about a friend who had a diamond store in Payson and that we would go there to get our new ring. I was a little bummed because I REALLY wanted the ring I had picked out before. But I decided, ok lets do this. We started to drive out to Payson and Scotty wanted to stop by a gas station and get an energy drink (he never does this...clue #1). I was a little annoyed we had to go get a new ring and really didn't wanna stop there but we did. After our gas station stop we started driving down this road into the farm land ( clue #2). I was a little confused, asking

Me: "there is a ring shop out here?"

Scott: "were going to meet at his house first and then follow him to the store"

Hmmmm...ok, I didnt mind because there were sooooo many horses around and I LOVE horses! So that made me think...

Me: "does your friend have horses?"

Scott: "yes..."

Me: " can we pet them....or maybe ride them (asking this expecting the answer to be no cause some people are really weird about letting people ride there horses)?"

Scott: "let me call him and ask...Im sure we can!!!"

Now, Scott is not the biggest horse fan, but seemed very happy that I asked this question (clue #3). He called his friend and they said we could! I was ecstatic! I had forgotten about my somber mood and could not wait to ride!

We pulled up to the house and got to pick some horses to ride. By now I had completely forgotten that we drove out there to look at rings. I just wanted to ride. So we start getting on the horses and the mom comes out saying that she always takes pictures of people who ride their horses and starting taking a ton of pics....a little weird...but ok (clue #4).

We start to ride and Scott's horse would not move. Not matter how many times he kicked it, it would not budge. So he decided to get on the back of my horse with me. BAD IDEA. The horse starts bucking like crazy and Scott gets bucked off!! After that...he decided to walk.

I ride. He walks. We start going towards these trees and Scott starts running towards this grove and says, "Hey, there is a swing over here!! Come swing!!!"

I ride over, still not seeing a swing (clue #5). Get off my horse and walk over. And there was no swing. Instead there was a whole pic nic and flowers (clue #6)! I thought he had done this cause he felt bad about the ring, so I immediately started thanking him, telling him he didn't need to do all this! Then all of the sudden I look down and....there it was THE RING!! He got down on one knee.....and that my friends is how

I AM GETTING MARRIED!!

I hope you figured out the SECRET through my little clues, cause I know I sure didnt catch on to it :)

It was taken back when Scott and I were just friends and yes there is a story behind it. So for any of you who know me, you know I HATE shaving...like as in I shave maybe once a week for church and thats it, dont judge, its just annoying! So one day I was at Scott's and p.s. this was before we were dating so I'm pretty sure Scott did not know the full extent of how weird I am, anyways I see his razor just sitting there. Its the kind you put on your face and I thought "ehhh what the heck might as well try it.." and tried it I did! I start shaving my legs....I know weird, but again if you know me its completely something I would do...Scott walks in and starting laughing his head off...Im pretty sure that was the moment he fell in love with me...ok maybe not so much but I'm pretty sure it summed me up for him!! Can I just tell you how much I love this boy! He is so awesome and has learned to just laugh at all the weird things I do! Such a good memory:)

I'm sorry I'm so bad at updating but I am much better stalker than blogger...yup thats for sure!! Life has been awesome and I could not be more busy or happy! School is a killer but its so worth it and I cant believe I will be done in a year! It's so crazy to think about it and time has flown by wayyyyy tooooo fast!! Ok, ok so I have not been keeping up with this...but boy oh boy has life ever been crazy!

I started dental hygiene school last month and it has just been non-stop studying since then! But I am so grateful to be exactly where I am at. My life has been so richly blessed this past year and I know that I am exactly where I need to be.

So... a little confession to make... I had a slight breakdown the other day. I just feel like sometimes that one moment your gliding along and the next your falling off a cliff. Well maybe not that dramatic...but still...

Even though school, boys, and my current unemployment status can get quite burdensome I know that the Lord is trying my faith.

In the mean time I am so grateful for the friendships and people the Lord has put in my life :)

So i should be sleeping...yes catching some good old zzZZZzzz's.

but...i find myself once again staring at the computer screen, thoughts careening across my mind. yet my finger can never type the right words to describe what goes on in this brain of mine.

i know this blog is not a place to be moody and grumpy and pile my dirty laundry until it is miles high... but tonight it is going to be. i am sick and tired of awkward situations.

yup, thats what im complaining about. and as amanda and danie would contest.. "GREEN (pinky finger up)" situations are no bueno. the list of awkward/embarrassing situations i have been in the past few weeks

- having a guy i was kinda digging on tell me that i kinda looked like his cousin so he would never kiss me... (k thanks ha)

- running into one of professors in the hallway...like full on run into him and almost knock him over

- having my new bishop come over with plate full of brownies asking me why i was inactive and affectionately naming out apartment "the mystery apartment"

- i saw some asians taking pictures on campus, so me being the nice person i am goes up and says w/ hand gestures "me take picture for you??" They happened to speak perfect english and said no....Im an idiot

- a bird crapped on my shirt

ok so i dont know is the heavens are trying to tell me something but i just want a normal life...but then again a normal life isn't so normal is it??

so i have been thinking. a lot. it was a year ago today that i felt like my life was in shambles. i have to admit i am pretty proud of myself for standing up, brushing off my knees and moving forward.

i was reading in my journal the other and came across an entry where i had written down various goals for myself. you see, this is kind of a big deal for me because, although i am very goal oriented, i never really write them down. which i guess defeats the purpose cause then i forget them, but hey, its an honest effort, dont judge.

anyways...

i started to read every SINGLE one of them without even realizing it!these goals and realized i had accomplished i remember when i wrote them down i thought, ehhh...there is no way i can accomplish all of these but i guess ill write them anyways. yet, i accomplished every one:)

this is not to say that i did not cry, fight, and grasp onto everything that i have accomplished over the past year, it was hard, but i think i have learned more in this year alone than i have in my entire life. i am so greatful for the struggles the Lord has given me and even more in debt to the fact that He never left my side. in my darkest times and deepest pain He carried me to the next day reminding me that there is nothing that i cant handle that is given me.

so...

it is amazing what we as humans can accomplish if we allow ourselves to forgive those who have hurt us, forget the things that dont matter and set out to "enjoy the journey!"

Other news...

my baby brother is now officially a missionary! i cant believe it! it is so weird to think he is right down the street at the MTC. he will do amazing and he is going to one of the most beautiful places in the World!

Ok so I was at my first day of school...and what is on my mind? Hawaii...yup that is what I kept thinking about all day. I miss it more than life and plan on moving back after I graduate. Im pretty sure I left my heart in Hawaii...hold on, let me check...

and so it begins.

i realized today as i knew my az visit was beginning its 24 hr countdown to the end, that this is not just another az visit coming to an end.

but a lot of other things coming to an end.

my brother leaves two weeks from today, i will not see him for two years and have to say my goodbyes tomorrow.

i have to say goodbye to the beautiful warmth and sunshine of az.

it is going to feel like decades before i feel the summer air now that i am living in pretty much the coldest place on earth.

said goodbye to about 90% of my friends who are mostly married or soon to be.

it is never the same after that.

said goodbye to living in az for the next three years

and so it ends.

now onto new beginnings.

a new career as i start dental hygiene in t-minus 7 days.

a new condo and a new room :)

a new way of living life, in the cold and snow that is...people say it starts to snow in october!

and plenty of new challenges... which sometimes i grow to love. bring it.

and so it begins yet again...

So here I go at it again. I have lived in many different and random places, but I have to say nothing compares to living here in Provo...its like a whole different world. Maybe you will understand me after these little gems...

This makes me feel better about not going on a lot of dates...phew!

Does anyone else find the placement of these two flyers awkward? I know I did. Does BYU really want to push speed dating a pregnancy?

Where else in the world will you see this written on the back window of a car...really? Is this needed? "Just Married!!" would have worked out just fine. What's even worse is the license plate is not even from Utah... I mean it would have been semi-ok if it was.

BYU has offered me more entertainment on a daily basis than a Disneyland ride when I was a kid. I guess Halloween is everyday on the BYU campus as this lovely young women so openly portrays with her mystic sword affectionately placed in her back pack. Razors and small pocket knives will be quickly taken from any student, but somehow this sword does not pose a risk?

Not only does the outside campus offer plenty of moments where I ask myself, "did that really just happen?" the library offers some great moments as well. I spend about 99.7% of my life in the library strategically studying micro-biology...someone else was using their strategic thinking skills as well, playing chess. I have always had a hard time trying to figure out how to play chess, an interesting game where you must try and anticipate, even predict the move of your opposing player. This has proven to be quite difficult for me to grasp. Unless the opponent is...well you...all alone playing in a library cubicle. Maybe I should try this?

Another one of the many "simple pleasures" of BYU is the Wilk Board. I check it every once in awhile, and everytime it is gold. You might wanna take that number down, any man willing to take phone calls for dates...a "free" date for that matter, is worth tracking down. I think I fit most of the criteria he listed on this add, which btw was under the "for sale" section of the board.

Provo can get tiring with so many

....shall we say...

interesting guys...

So every once in awhile us girls get together and do therapy sessions.

Most call these "girls nights."

We decided it would be just delightful to go and see

"The Proposal."

But we never considered a few things:

#1. It was a friday night...and a friday night in Provo means "date night" for about 95% of the population (yes we make up the 5% who decided to attend a therapy session instead).

#2. Provo has one 'real' theatre

#3. A typical mormon date usually includes a movie

#4. This equals= pretty much you need reservations to go see a movie on a friday night in Provo....phew glad

I learned that lesson

So what better thing to do then bring out our creative/domesticated/wifey side then to go to Color Me Mine!

Needless to say I kept it simple and was rather pleased with the way

my toothbrush holder turned out. Now all I need is a toothbrush that will fit in it...

So I love my room mates and they are pretty much way cooler than your roomies. I have done a terrible job introducing them...so it is time for their introduction....

ALIX comes to us all the way from Sammamish (pretty sure I spelled that

right??) Washington, standing at 5''1' she is so much fun and not only that she is extremely creative! You can find her working at Color Me Mine at the Riverwoods and Shade clothing! She has luscious chocolate locks and a sense of humor to die for...and not to mention impeccable fashion sense. Alix is attending UVU in the fall where she hopes to one day become a nurse!! Alix is pretty much my "wingman...or woman" as we both scope the Provo jungle! ladies and gentlemen this is Alix :)

ANI also calls Washington home and Alix her sister! Her bubbly personality and happy-go-lucky attitude is sure to bring a smile to anyone's face...especially her boyfriend Jason (sorry guys she is taken!). Dont let that beautiful golden hair fool you, Ani is in the Marriot School of Business at BYU and probably the smartest one in our apartment haha. You can find her soakin up the rays down at the pool or playing with Alix and I! Ani is (as alix and I say...) a GEM and a PEACH! This is miss Ani!!

you see i am trying to get back into reading...for fun...not for school. so in my meager attempt to rekindle my love for reading i knew i had to choose a book that would keep my interest or my goal would completely fail. so i choose "THE TIME TRAVELERS WIFE." and it pretty much changed my life. my favorite book of all time.

naturally i was elated to see this...

this will be the next best thing to "THE NOTEBOOK!"

this beautiful movie will be coming out on august 14 :)

Well in other news....

i learned that i.....drum roll please...

GOT ACCEPTED TO DENTAL HYGIENE SCHOOL!!!

after cramming in 2 yrs worth of pre requisites into virtually one year, selling my soul to school and having a pretend social life... i finally accomplished my goal! i start in august and cant wait to go to school for something that i love doing!

i also just got back from lake powell on our annual trip. i have to say, it was probably my favorite trip ever taken to lake powell. after living away from my family i realized how much i miss them and im so glad to have such a supportive family. my brother leaves for the Phillipines sept. 2nd and my sister is just so beautiful, smart and growin up so fast!

he always goes the extra mile, stays a little longer and does it right the first time. a few reasons why i love my dad:

1. he is a great example of a father, husband, and priesthood holder

2. he has always been able to give me, my siblings or my mom a blessing when we need one

3. he works hard at everything he does

4. he is the only person that can argue better than me

5. he has always been supportive and helpful in helping me accomplish my dreams

6. he comforts my mom when i am off doing my crazy things like going to africa and moving half way across the world and concinving her that im not crazy...even though we all know i am :)

7. he has always treated my mother with respect and takes her on a date every friday... awww cute

8. yup, thats him always up washing the cars first thing in the morning. he has taught me the value of doing things THE RIGHT WAY

9. he always taught me to never give up, every rejection is just one step closer to getting what you want

10. most of all he loves the Lord and has never wavered in showing his family his dedication to the gospel.

to feel or not to feel...that is the question?

while waiting for the subway in new york last year, i looked across the tracks and i saw this written on one of the metal beams,

at the time i thought it was sort of ironic that something as unruffled as PRAYER was written down in this ugly, dank subway terminal, so i decided to take this picture.

now, a few years later, after looking through old pictures i came across it again. who would have thought that today this picture that i took down in an unsightlynew york subway would hark back to me of what i had been missing.

such a beautiful message, but so often times neglected in our busy lives. sure, i say my prayers every morning and every night...but thats what i do...SAY them. it has been awhile since i really felt them.

so today, after finding that picture, staring adversity in the face, having a good cry and seeking my mothers advice on my struggles i, for the first time in a long time, felt my prayer. it might not have made everything magically disappear (or sometimes appear in the case of trying to date someone normal for once in my life...) or maybe it didnt make things any eaisier. but ill tell you what, it sure did bring a sense of peace, guidance, assurity and strength to overcome all of my trials right now.

so.....my point is....

dont just say your prayers, FEEL them. it makes all the difference in the World (not for the one whose listening, cause He already knows how we feel, but to allow us to FEEL the presence of the Savior in our lives)

sometimes it is hard to feel. over the past couple of years i have come to realize this like i never have before, and i think sometimes that is why we put our lives on auto-pilot.

just exisiting and not really living, cause life brings emotion.

but today i was reminded that FEELING is something we have been blessed with.

without feelings of regret there would be no spur to change.

without feelings of heartbreak, there would be nothing to incite self discovery and growth.

As we greet each new day, may we take the time to embrace the feelings the Lord gives us.

Light will flow into your soul.

i run my life...or is it running me?

sometimes i get way ahead of myself.... today just happens to be one of those days. but i realized that i have so many people i can run to when i feel like i can never catch up with everyone else.

and really, in the end, catching up with everyone else doesn't matter anyways.

Can anyone please remind me why i left this....

uhhh...yeah....i dont know either?

lately i have been thinking about why in the world i live here. sure i can buy a gallon of milk for under $7, drive instead of bike, live in a place not infested with giant flying cockroaches and im only a hop, skip and a jump from home...but still...why?

in honor of Provo, here are a few things i have learned since living here:

- the streets never get less confusing ( can we not be creative enough to actually give them names instead of just numbers??

- the ring check (realizing this after thinking a boy in one of classes was cute, yea...he was married)

- BYU approved housing dont believe in hot tubs (WTF?)

- the Utah "poof" is still alive....and doing quite well (also affectionately named "the hilary duff puff" AT BYU-hawaii)

- The 'weeding out' theory (for those of you who are not aware of this let me explain.... there is an apartment full of freshmen girls being hit on by a 27 year old return missionary as we speak. He will pick out the prettiest one, hang out with her, eventually ask her on a REAL date and marry her all before she has enough time to realize she has dropped out of her elementry ed. program and will now be 'seriously so blessed.' What does this do? Well this giggly freshmen has now left you free to spot the guys who are looking for girls who are actually going to college for educational purposes, dont play helpless when it comes to setting up their DVD player and will not be a perfect replacement of the boy's mother.)

- BYU parking sucks...I might as well walk from my apartment seeing as the closest parking lot seems to be about a mile from the actual school

- Ward Prayer, yet again is pointless (sure, its a great thought...but really? is it neccessary that after a few hours of returning home from church we have to meet, yet again just so that an apartment full of girls can be introduced to an apartment full of guys....call me a 'rebel' but i personally believe this is just another excuse to 'check out the hotties in the ward'...gag)

- forget the lingerie...University Mall now sells aprons for that 'ever so sexy' bachelorette gift. (thats right, aprons like the kind your mom used to wear while making sunday dinner after fast and testimony meeting...pretty sure this is the only place they can make a comeback)

- Dance Parties; they are an every weekend event and come in as many themes as your little mind can imagine.( Provo passed a law saying that you could not 'hold a dance function' unless you were a religious leader or denomination or a school. So what is the blonde-tipped, white 'spy' sunglasses, 'Affliction' wearing 'provo all-star' to do to attract platinum blonde- orange- skinned Ed Hardy- wearing girl? Go online of course, and become an 'ordained minister' so that they can hold dance parties every weekend at the 'hollywood house,' without any question from the police....yes this is a true story!)

Well...this is all that i can think of right now...i am sure i have a lot more to learn.

a little update...

or i guess i should say a big update. so i made this blog in hawaii and then....uh never touched it again. so here i am trying again. try, try again.

i moved to hawaii for a semester and it was the best thing i ever did! it gave me such a new perspective on life and i met some amazing people. but like most good things do, it came to an ended. i realized that a lot of things i wanted to accomplish could not be done on that tiny island of love.

so i packed my bags, took in a few more ocean sunsets, brushed off the sand and headed back to the mainland. spent a week in arizona and headed up to utah. which is where i find myself now.

since i was so bad at updating on hawaii here is a little collage for ya'll. mahalo.

Ok Ok I gave in....

So after much pressure from family and friends I have finally entered the blogging world....but please do not be disappointed if I fail to update it every five minutes...I am not good at these types of things. And without the help of my beautiful sister hopefully I will be able to upload my pictures on to this thing!

So I have finally arrived in Hawaii! After what seemed like a day long plane ride I have finally landed! I was so anxious and excited on the plane because I have been waiting to come here for about four months and for some odd reason thought I would never get here (it seems that a lot of things I plan out somehow never pan out how I wanted them haha). But when I heard that plane land I could not contain my excitement and finally felt like a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders.

After a crazy trip to Wal Mart and going in circles around the island we finally made it to my cute little house by the beach. It was perfect for me, with a killer view! The house sets up on this little cliff called The Point and it overlooks the ocean! It is awesome! I met all of my roomies who are so nice and I love them already. Everything has gone so smoothly and I love being here!

School is so fun and everyone is friendly. It is refreshing to walk around campus and meet people from so many different places and walks of life. For anyone that knows me, knows how much I love other cultures and learning how other people live! It is so fascinating:)

I feel so blessed to be here. It has been a long journey for me for the past couple of years and even though I have gone through the hardest times of my life I have realized that the Lord has been aware of me this entire time. He has opened so many doors to me when I thought that so many were closed. I cant wait to see what more He has in store for me!!!
